Notes:
Shell:
Second pattern, magnetic rim (post-February, 1916). Original condition as
found. Original, period-applied camouflage paint in the “stained glass” style.
Liner: Second pattern, oilcloth band with rubber doughnut (post-May, 1917). Original condition as found. Replaced original, moth-eaten felt/asbestos pad with modern non-asbestos, 100% wool felt reproduction with new rubber doughnut. Replaced adjustment tag with reproduction.
Chinstrap: Unsalvageable.
Replaced with modern reproduction, but retained original buckle.
Stamps/Markings:
- “FS 28” cold-stamped on underside of rear brim.
- Leather retaining strap stamped “7¼”.
